Welcome to Tessera. Please read these Terms of Use carefully before downloading or running our local desktop application. By installing or using Tessera, you agree to comply with these terms.

1. Open Source Licensing

Tessera is open-source software distributed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. You are free to copy, modify, and distribute the source code according to the terms of that license. See the LICENSE file on GitHub for the full text.

2. Local Execution & Liability

Tessera is a local-first application. You run all workflows, playbooks, API connections, and automation scripts entirely on your own hardware.

• No Warranty: Tessera is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
• User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any documents, database edits, emails, or transactions conducted by your AI playbooks. Tessera is not liable for data loss, service disruptions, or database errors caused by automation runs.
• Data Backups: Because we do not store your data on external servers, you are responsible for maintaining backups of your local SQLite database and Git workspace files.

3. Acceptable Use of AI

When configuring templates and connecting models to Tessera, you agree not to use the application to build workflows designed for:

• Spamming or sending unauthorized automated emails/messages.
• Bypassing system security gates or conducting unauthorized network scanning.
• Generating malicious code or assisting in deceptive operations.

4. Third-Party API Keys

Tessera facilitates connections to third-party LLM providers (e.g. OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and billing structures. Tessera is not responsible for any API usage charges you incur.

5. Termination

You can terminate these terms at any time by uninstalling the Tessera desktop app and deleting your local config directory (`.tessera`).
